The New Book A Review of the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries(2012-2020)Release Conference Held in Beijing
On December 11, 2020, the new book A Review of the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries(2012-2020)release conference, jointly sponsored by the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, the China-CEEC Think Tanks Network, and the Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Beijing. Qin Gang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Lutong, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lu Shan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Huo Yuzhen, special representative for cooperation between China and central and Eastern European countries, Wu Baiyi, Director of the Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the ambassadors or representatives of the 17 CEEC countries to China attended the meeting.

Wu Baiyi, Director of the Institute of European Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, introduced the new book, stressing that it was the first time in the international academic community to review and evaluate the eight years of “17+1 cooperation”.

Qin Gang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Secretary General of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, spoke highly of the contribution made by the China-CEEC Think Tanks Network hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on think tank exchanges in the past few years, and said that the review was just in time and was a major achievement for the eight years of cooperation between China and CEEC countries. Qin also expressed his gratitude to the experts and scholars who overcame the impact of the epidemic to participate in the compilation of the book and congratulations on the release of it.

In his speech, Grigor Porozhanov, Bulgarian ambassador to China said that the book makes cross-country studies through analyzing international relations and diplomacy and by using political methodology. It not only reviews the past eight years of China-CEEC cooperation, but also lays out important points for the future cooperation. The COVID-19 epidemic further highlights the interdependence among countries in the international economy and China’s economy plays an important role in promoting the recovery of the world economy after the epidemic.
